At Cairns Audiology Group our Audiologists are able to take impressions of your ears to custom manufactured ear plugs for a variety of uses. This is a quick and pain-free experience, however requires a short consultation to complete the ear impressions (15 minute appointment).

Custom Manufactured Noise Excluding Ear Plugs

(Solid HearSavers & Sleep Plugs)

These noise excluding plugs are made of soft silicone hypo-allergenic material and are manufactured from an impression taken of your ear which will be sent to the manufacturer. They are designed to be worn whilst exposed to a range of high intensity noises and are designed to eliminate outside noises by reducing sound by up to 40dB.

Solid HearSavers are designed to be used in a more industrial environment for instance, where hearing protection and thus maximum attenuation is the main focus. There are a range of customisations and profile options available to choose during the ordering process.

Custom Musician Earplugs

(Musician HearSavers)

Musician HearSavers have acoustic filters that provide hearing protection by lowering sound intensity whilst still maintaining sound quality without distortion. The advantage of the filters in Musician HearSavers, is that you can choose the amount of attenuation and thus hearing protection, while reserving a clear and natural sound quality, so you can still enjoy music and understand the people around you.

Filter options for Musician HearSavers include 10dB, 15dB and 25db of attenuation. There are a range of customisations and profile options available to choose during the ordering process.

Custom Manufactured Water Excluding Ear Plugs

These water excluding plugs are made of soft silicone hypo-allergenic material and are manufactured from an impression taken of your ear which will be sent to the manufacturer. They are designed keep water out of the canal while swimming or bathing to help reduce a range of common water related ear irritations.

Water Protectors are also useful for common conditions such as perforated eardrum, Grommets and Ventilations tubes. People with conditions such as these will often be advised by their Doctor or Specialist to keep their ears clean and dry while healing to avoid further complications and reduce the chance of recurrent infection. There are a range of customisations and profile options available to choose during the ordering process.

Doc’s Proplugs

Doc’s Proplugs are preformed earplugs made of Dynaflex (a soft hypoallergenic plastic). In addition to being latex free, and completely re-useable and the Proplugs will become even more flexible when warmed by the temperature of your ear and have memory properties to form fit to each individual’s ear auricle. Once fitted correctly, the Proplugs will form a watertight seal that contours with the movement of the jaw.

The benefits of wearing Doc’s Proplugs are in the invaluable properties that help prevent damage to the ear whether you are taking part in recreational water sport activities, your everyday job, or if you are fortunate enough to combine both as a professional. EarWrap Headbands

At Cairns Audiology Group we also stock EarWrap headbands which are made of neoprene wetsuit material and recommended to assist in retention of water excluding ear plugs for younger children. We offer a range of sizes and colours.

Custom Communication Earpieces

Communication Earpieces are custom made to suit a variety of needs and uses. Most earpieces provided for communication and personal listening equipment are a great start, however a big quality leap occurs when moving from universal fit products to a custom made mould.

Customised earpieces are made from an impression of the client’s ear canal and concha area, and are unique to that individual’s ear. The earbuds from devices such as iPods, mobile telephones, security radios, in-ear monitors, MP3 players are embedded into the mould, ensuring a secure fit and maintaining the best possible sound quality which is great for all sorts of activities to improve comfort and retention. There are a range of customisations and profile options available to choose during the ordering process and the sound transducer to be inserted generally goes with your ear impressions to the manufacturer to ensure the best possible outcome in the manufacturing process.
