Hearing assessments can be performed on people of all ages, from new born babies right through to the elderly.
Cairns Audiology Group has specialised equipment to assess all aspects of hearing and the knowledge and expertise to identify
problems and explain them clearly so that the functional impacts and possible solutions can be clearly understood and appropriate
rehabilitation undertaken where required.
Hearing Aid Prescription, Service & Repairs
The Cairns Audiology Group is an independent practice and offers individual and tailored technology solutions from a wide range of
hearing aid manufactures. We provide affordable solutions with ongoing support, including hearing instrument servicing and repairs
and sale of batteries and accessories to keep your device running smoothly.
We offer a comprehensive range of styles, from discreet completely in the canal and miniature behind the ear processors to conventional
in the ear and behind the ear power models. The type of instrument which would be suitable is primarily dependent on the degree of hearing
loss and on lifestyle factors, therefore it is of the upmost importance that a comprehensive hearing assessment has been completed by a
one of our qualified Audiologists prior to recommendation of an appropriate technology solution.
FREE to Client Services for eligible Pensioners & Veterans
The Cairns Audiology Group also provides services to eligible voucher clients approved by the Office of Hearing Services. These services include
provision of hearing assessments, the cost of pre approved hearing instruments / assistive listening devices and their fitting, contribution to
the ongoing maintenance and repair of hearing devices.
To be eligible for subsidised hearing rehabilitation services through the commonwealth government you must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent
Resident aged 21 years or older and be:
- a Pensioner Concession Card holder;
- receiving Sickness Allowance from Centrelink;
- the holder of a Gold Repatriation Health Card (DVA) issued for all conditions;
- the holder of a White Repatriation Health Card (DVA) issued for conditions that include hearing loss;
- a dependent of a person in one of the above categories;
- a member of the Australian Defence Force; or
- undergoing an Australian Government funded vocational rehabilitation service and you are referred by your service provider.

Industrial & Pre-employment Assessments
The Cairns Audiology Group can provide the employees of Industry Organisations and Occupational Health and Safety Officers with audiometric assessments to
Australian Standard (AS1269) including calculation of their binaural percentage loss of hearing. We also can assess functional hearing capacity for CASA,
AMSA and the Department of Transport.
Custom Ear Plugs (Swimmers, Musicians & Noise)
The Cairns Audiology Group can take impressions for the manufacture of custom ear plugs for the following uses
- Ear Defenders (for protection from industrial noise and gunfire)
- Musicians Plugs and In ear Monitors (for protection of hearing whilst maintaining optimal clarity)
- Swim Plugs (for protection from water entering the external auditory canal / ear canal)
- Custom communications earpieces and in ear monitors including custom earphone inserts for MP3 players and hands free mobile phone systems
Auditory Processing Assessments
Auditory Processing Disorder is a problem with the way the brain processes auditory stimulus and can be present in those with normal peripheral hearing.
Auditory Processing difficulties are often seen in children who are having academic problems, especially with language and literacy based subjects such
as reading, spelling and comprehension.
Cairns Audiology Group conducts specialist tests to identify the source of the Auditory Processing difficulties and recommend appropriate rehabilitation
and compensation strategies.
Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment
The Cairns Audiology Group is an accredited provider of Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment, a clinically proven method of treating disturbing tinnitus.
The treatment involves a comprehensive assessment of your hearing (including high frequency audiometry) and the development of an individual tinnitus profile. This allows the customisation of a neurological stimulus which is combined with relaxing music and delivered via headphones according to an individualised program.

Assistive Listening Devices are used to improve the quality of life of those suffering from hearing loss or Auditory Processing difficulties.

Active Communication Education & Training
Research shows that individuals that are provided with communication education alongside the use of their hearing instruments have a higher rate
of acceptance and success with their devices.
The Cairns Audiology Group is able to offer individual advice as well as group sessions to educate clients and their families on hearing loss and
