Gerard Del Favero:
Cert IV Aud Eng, BMus, MAudS, MAudSA(CC)
Gerard grew up in Cairns and attended schooling locally at St Joseph's Primary and St Mary's Catholic College for completion of senior.
Gerard went on to tertiary studies at James Cook University in Townsville studying Computer Science / Computer Systems Engineering before
moving to Brisbane to complete a Certificate IV in Audio Engineering in 1999.
Following completion Gerard attended Queensland University of Technology completing his degree in Music majoring in Recording Production.
With a view to continuing education to a post graduate level he enrolled at the University of Queensland completing a Masters of Clinical
Audiology in 2003.
Gerard returned to Cairns in 2003 and has been working locally since that time in private practice delivering much needed audiological
services for the region. Gerard has a special interest in rehabilitative audiology, central auditory processing and tinnitus treatment.
Philippa Carter:
BBSc, MAudS, MAudSA(CC)
Philippa grew up in the bush and attended boarding school in Charters Towers before moving to Brisbane to begin tertiary education in 1999.
In 2001 Philippa completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Griffith University before moving to the University of Queensland to complete
a Masters of Clinical Audiology in 2003.
Philippa made the move to Cairns in December 2003 and has been working in the local region since, delivering specialist diagnostic audiological
services since this time.
Philippa has extensive experience in the areas of vestibular function assessment having completed the ICS training course in Chicago in 2005.
Philippa has a special interest in neonatal and electrophysiological diagnostic audiology.
What is an Audiologist?
In Australia, an audiologist is a university trained masters level allied health professional specialising in diagnosis, treatment and monitoring
of disorders of the auditory and vestibular systems.
Audiologists are trained to identifying and interpreting problems within the hearing and balance systems and provide appropriate rehabilitation,
counselling and support services, including prescription and maintenance of hearing aids and assistive listening devices.
